Form and Fire: Fire Extinguisher

Form and fire was a project to design a conceptual fire extinguisher specifically for a large franchise pet supply store chains. The form had to take inspiration from the environment and be able to communicate intuitive usage. Studying the environment and pet supplies, the main inspiration for the form came from a rawhide-bone. While the body shares visual cues from the rawhide-bone, the design of the handle as well as the usage, how to hold and carry, mimics the interaction and the form of a pet harness. In its upright position, the form communicates its intention to be carried by the handle, and in its horizontal position to activate the extinguisher, the ergonomics of the handle and the grip on the body communicates the general usage of the extinguisher. The model was made in Renshape and rendered in photoshop.
